Yes, the big downside to AlamDV2 and Vegas is that AlamDV2 will not accept the DV codec. What I do is render the clip that I want to apply effects to the Uncompressed avi format. This will import into AlamDV2 and maintain the best quality. The obvious downside is that you have to render before importing and the filesize for uncompressed is big. You can also choose to render to Quicktime before importing to AlamDV2, which will save on space but I prefer the uncompressed for the quality. -Shon

That's weird, I captured some .avi's in Studio 8 which uses the MS DV codec and they would not open in AlamDV until I installed the Mainconcept DV codec.
