VV3 does not see my video camera (Sony VX 2000E)

I am trying to review the demo version of VV3 - I like the interface and cannot wait to move away from Premiere 6 (what a dog!)- but I cannot get VV3 to recognize my camcorder. I am using a Sony VX2000e (PAL version) with a Pinnacle 1394 DV card on a 1.7GHz Dell Optiplex. I continuosly get the message "No device connected" and "Please connect a device" in the Capture section. I have tried all the proposed remedies, such as switching the camera on only after running the Capture program, but absolutely nothing happens. This card/camera combination works very well with a whole range of other editors, such as Premiere 6, and I hope that I have been overlooking a simple fix for the problem in VV3, being new to the program. If not, I must say it does not serve as a good incentive to buy the program if one cannot get the demo version to work.

I would appreciate any help I can get right now.

great camera
even greater program--vv3 that is
make sure your camera is hooked up to firwire
then make sure you capture the video
here are the steps to capture from your video camera
open vv3
file
capture video
go to options
preferences
general tab
***make sure dv device control is checked--i bet yours is not checked!!
click apply
close window
press the record button --- it will start your camcorder automatically
---also--make sure your camcorder is in vcr mode
please let me know if that works
i'm sure the dv device control is not checked---99% sure
good luck
btw--when you capture from a vcr--you want to uncheck the dv device control
when you capture from a dv video camera--you want to make sure dv device control is checked

Sonicboom, thanks for the reply, but my General tab options in the Preferences section does not seem to have a check box labeled "DV Device Control." Is it perhaps located elsewhere?

OK, found the right check box - it was in the Capture->Options->Preferences section, I looked in the main program Options section. But no, it was checked, and so we seme to be back at square one, I am afraid!

ok, make sure vv3 is reading your firewire--1394eee port in preferences
open vv3
options
preferences
video device
drop dpwn menu---should have 1394 in there--if not--you need it
otherwise, i have no clue
others will answer you much more thorough than me
