VV3 effects question

Any help would be appreciated, I don't think it can be done, an example would be a news cast where a person is being interviewed, their name is at the bottom of the screen. Easily done, but to look proffessional their name is usually on top of some fancy colored bar that runs across the bottom of the screen, how can a person generate the bar that the name sits on top of. And if you can do that, how can you create both the bars and the name at the same time. Also, is a cursive font available.
Thanks

Well here's how I do it (although I'm sure there are 1,000 different ways):

I create the bar graphic in Photoshop & import as a Photoshop file. Provided that you created it over a transparent background, Vegas will read the alpha channel.
Then I just use the pan/zoom in Vegas to fly it in and out... starting with the graphic off screen, panning until it's in it's desired locale.

Then I position the text over it in Vegas. If you wanted it to fly in with the name already on the graphic, do it in Photoshop (but I've had ugly-ass results doing it that way) & fly it in as one element.

As for doing it all in Vegas... I'm not sure, but I'm sure that you could create a less than full screen solid color/whatever and fly that in.

As for cursive... I don't know off the top of my head.

Hi Roscoe,

You might try using the Gradient generator in the Vegas Text/Backgrounds window to make your bar, by modifying the Rectangle preset... You can use track-motion to size and add motion to the bar.

On another track above the bar you can put your text... you can select any TT font you have on your system, like Monotype Corsiva.
