VV3: Error on printing to tape

Trying to print a timeline in VV3 to tape and keep getting this error:

"An error occured while creating the media file Vegas Video Prerendered Video File xxxx.W64 The reason for the error could not be determined."

I tried changing the prerendered files folder and still nothing. This is in a media lab environment and we have ten identical machines and it happens on each one. Tried rendering the thing as an AVI then putting it into a project then PTT but same error. We're using 3.0c. We've tried using different cameras too and still no avail.

Make sure you have enough temp and prerendered file space (fairly obvious), then, go to

:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-Ins\File Formats

delete:

wavplug.dll

and reinstall Vegas 3.0c.

This error is likely a bad .dll (all file formats were shared between SF apps in Vegas 3), but it could possibly be a drive space issue.

I doubt it's a space issue (we have 30 GB left on C and our media drives are 100 GB).

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but we delete the one DLL file, then run the Vegas 3.0c installation file? We don't have to uninstall the app? Will we then have to go in an redo settings or will they be retained (ie. directories, etc.)?

Thanks for the speedy reply. It's the last two weeks of semester and students are getting restless.

We tried replacing the dll file as suggested and we still got the same problem. We tinkered around with it and figured it out, and I'm posting it in case anyone else would have this problem in future:

We thought that it might be cause the prerender folder was set to the C drive Vegas folder, and all our machines are on a university network with Windows 2000. We went in and changed the student profiles after updating the prerender bin to the Media Hard Drives. Still got the error. The administrator enabled writing permissions to the C Vegas folder and the error went away. Which is weird, because if the prerendered folder is set to drive D, should there be any files written to the C: Vegas directory? Anyways, that ultimately fixed it.

Thanks for posting so quickly SonicEPM. You guys are the reason I'm still editing instead of...I don't know...milking cows somewhere. (I am in Wisconsin, after all.)
