VV3 generated texts flicker when fading in and out

Was just wondering if anybody has seen this in VV3, it just started after I upgrated to VV3a (build 107). When putting a VV3 generated text into projects with or without background and I let them fade in and fade out they flicker or blink while fading. This only happens in the final render, no matter what format (mpeg 1 or 2, mov, avi, divx) but does not happen in the preview window before rendering. What could be wrong or am I missing something?

Thanks

are you sure it isn't interlace problems? is the text moving?

I just tried it. dropped a generated text media event on the time line and faded it in and out. then I rendered it to DV and looked at the result. no flickering... just a nice smooth fade.

I've got a problem exactly like this too, but not with a fading in and out of a text screen, it does it on a DV video clip that I have put a fade envelope on. I made this clip, slowed it down to about half speed and put in several fade ins and outs to black. I rendered it and the fades were good smooth fades but I didn't do the "resample" thing so the motion was real jerky. (clip has alot of fast motion) Otherwise the fades were real smooth and all the way to black. So I re-did it same exact way but hit the resample button and interlace and now the slow motion looks really good but the fades just flicker to about half black and back in. In the preview window it shoes a smooth fade all the way to black, but when I render and watch on windows meadia player or output back to DV camcorder, it just flickers. I have redone the fade envelopes and everything and rendered several times, but it just does the same thing. Help!! The fades worked the first time.

Oh yeah, I installed the VV3a patch and my capture DV stopped working. So I uninstalled the whole program and re-installed it without the VV3a patch and capture works again. This doesn't have anything to do with the flickering problem, but as far as I can tell the patch is bad. At least for me.... (PII-400mhz, winME, Dazzle card)

Been doing some more experiments with these flickering and it seems fades that are from 0 to 8 frames flicker, and shorter the more flickering. But fades longer than 10 frames seem to be okey. This only happens for me with generated media in VV3 like texts, solid color, test patterns, but don't get it with fading video clips. So what happens for you KatKat if you experiment with short and long fades on your video clips?

8 frames is a *really short* fade! Keep in mind that video is discontinuous and moves forward in discreet frames. If you fade from black to full on in 8 frames, then each frame is going to be substantially brighter than the one before it. The text will come in with a noticeable stair-step change in brightness rather than a seemingly smoother ramp that you would get with more frames.

tried it with 5 and 6 frame fades on text. rendered to DV AVI and popped it back into Vegas. fades are smooth even when stepping frame-by-frame. the fade is really quick and snappy, so it's difficult to see whether the effect happens at full speed. how are you noticing it? are you going frame-by-frame?
