No. You must have Windows 98SE.

Thanks Ted.

But I still don't get why VV3c needs win98se...win98 looks/feel similar to win98se...what are the differences that vv3c needs in win98se?
Sorry for being nosy about this, but i am curious...

I don't remember the exact reasons. It had something to do with the file system and support for larger files or hard drives, and I believe that there is no support for Firewire in the first edition. Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The only OSs that we test with, and offer support for, are: 98SE, ME, 2k, XP. Your best bet is XP, or 2k.

Think of Windows 98SE as actually Windows 99. Or think of Windows 98 as Windows 95C. As far as the internal architecture goes, 95 and 98 are more similar and 98SE was actually a larger change. 98SE includes enormous improvements in device support, memory management, large storage management, networking, interprocess communication, multithreading, auto detection and setup, ... the list goes on. It's only superficially similar to 98 in appearance. Under the hood it's radically different.

Guess it's upgrade time for my friend ;)

VV needs the MSDV.sys driver in addition to the other IEEE 1394 system files located above and below it. Some TI based programs supply a proprietary driver, but the others require the updated driver and associated files provided in W98SE for proper firewire support.
