Vv4 only does vga-monitor overlay preview at 12fps

With a top-notch geforce 4ti 4200 and a 2,53ghz p4 I can only get overlay to preview at 12fps.This is outrageous coz it has no fx only overlay player.
Edition seems to work ok at 25fps.
I have installed all the new drivers from via and nvidia nothing seems to change.
I have change all the cards from one pci bus to another in order to avoid IRQ problems; no better results.
I don´t know what else to do.
PLease help!!!

Vegas likes firewire for external monitor preview .

Also, your "top notch" video card won't solve anything. It's for 3d and Vegas is 2d.
Also, whay kind of overlay are you trying? I just plopped 1 video ontop of another and it partly opague, then did a Mask Luminance FX to the top one. I get 29.97 FPS in my preview window at Best (Auto) quality. I only have an ATI 8500 and an AMD XP 1800. :) Also you should note that when vegas repeats a looped section over and over it gets faster and faster.

I'm a bit confused reading your post...

If you're trying to get a video preview in Vegas, having prob. because the frame rate is too low, generally that can be caused by either too many FX (know you wrote you aren't using any), or something else that causes extra processing, as using some mpg2, wmv files etc. on the timeline. If the data rate for the video is greater then your drive can handle, that'll also slow playback. Might make sure all windows & DX updates are installed to be safe.

If you're talking about video out, Vegas is set to use firewire as noted, doesn't have an overlay window, so it might be best to check the gforce fan sites or search this forum for related settings to try with one of these cards.
