VVV3 Video Capture trouble

shivas wrote on 1/3/2002, 11:13 AM
I'm new to DV and I'm evaluating VVV3 . I like it a lot but I can't capture DV from my PAL Canon MMVX1i (European Optura 100) trough a DV Wonder ATI Firewire card.
Everything else works fine, I can control Camcorder, I can capture stills, but when I end the Video captureing process I get a "No video was captured message"!
No problem at all with Premiere and Ulead software.
Do I have to do special setting for Pal? I made several changes in Preference settings with no result.
Anybody can help me, please? I start loving VVV3 and I wouldn't switch to another software.
Thanks in advance.

You can try this:

Open Vidcap, go to> Options > Preferences > Capture > Uncheck the minimun clip length and Voila, works.

Thanks, I discovered it by my self experimenting with settings.
Now VideoCap is working fine and I can fully enjoy learning VVV3.

Are all the clips you're capturing under the default min. clip length of 2 secs?

Just a question. What is the reasoning for having a default min. length set at 2 sec?
Thanks,
Andy

My guess is that this minimum length setting avoids storing all the
little glitches from starting and stopping the camera as separate clips.
Generally, anthing shorter than two seconds is probably a mistake or a
camera glitch instead of a scene. I haven't had any troubles with this at
all, but when i did try setting it off, i often got a extra scenes a couple
of frames long from the beginning and ending of my clips. It was quite
an annoyance that this setting allows you to avoid. Apparently it doesn't
work well for everyone though.

Yes, you're correct about its intentions.

Thanks!

Souds like a good Q/A for the Video Capture FAQ.
