if you clips are 4:3 , you have to crop and then do wide screen.

if you clips are wide screen - your project would be wide screen and you would save wide screen ..

if your clips are 4:3 , you can save in either ws or 4:3 ..

if your source is mixed aspect - you would be working in a wide screen project and cropping your 4:3 (most likely) and would be saving in wide screen ...

you can save a veg really in what ever format you want as you can change it next time you open .. but you would think you would save it in the the settings you are working in would make sense

BJM, thanks for the reply.

However, I am a little confused.

The project is video captured from Digital8, 4:3 and saved as .avi, so are you saying that when I made the video project (it is just clips from a birthday party) I should have cropped the video for widescreen format?

What happens if it is rendered as widescreen with out cropping?

Edit.....ok, I just looked up "widescreen" in the help and see that a video event has to be cropped, and they explain how, but I see in the video preview, that the top and bottom are cut off (cropped) so does that mean that those parts will not be seen after rendering & burning? ........so I guess that you don't generally change 4:3 to widescreen, right?

you can change natiive 4:3 to wide screen anytime you want, just be aware that you are losing 25% of the resolution and the top and bottom of the pic (or however you crop it) ..

if you dont crop - everyone will look fat ..

and if you show it on a 4:3 tv, it will have black borders ...
