Wanted: Pic's of your Editing Desk & Setup

will-3 wrote on 4/26/2009, 5:36 AM
I'm about to redo the editing station & setup here and am interested in seeing...

1 - What furniture or desk or table or bench or furniture you guys use to hold your equipment at your editing station.

2 - How you have your equipment organized on your editing desk, table, bench, or whatever.

Let me know if you bought a special desk or table... The professional solutions I've seen are expensive... I've also looked at desk for music production at music stores like Sam Ash and Guitar Center... they are pricey aswell...

where did you guys get your editing desk and how much was it?

I guess we can't post pic's here but I think everybody would be interested in seeing the various setups... so if anyone has any idea's on how to share pic's of video editing suites & setups let us know.

Thanks.

Will_3, there's a few pictures in the OT: Your Office thread.

Sticky #4 at the top of this page tells you how to insert images into a thread.
Failing that, upload it and post a link to one of the many photo sharing sites.

Putting pics on this forum is like doing income tax returns. Other forums just use one or two clicks. Therefore I will not post any pics.

as mike said - it's been done, and if you're that interested, start off there.

Desk was $199 from Guitar Center. BUT, you'll need to mount your own heavy duty casters, as the wheels that come with the desk are crap. I wanted a mobile desk so I could easily access cables.

Since I took the picture, I now have a 24" monitor instead of the dual displays, and a 15" production monitor instead of the 19" consumer TV.

I keep my monitors as low on the desk as possible, I still find it more comfortable to look slightly down instead of looking up at them at eye level.

I like mine to have the center of the screen be at eye level. I get a crick in my neck if they're too low.

Hopefully others will post their editing station photo's.

Its a basic corner unit from staples for about $350. It's been modifited with 1/4 plywood to support monitors on the back panel. 2 pcs, one is the vegas machine that runs 3 views, the smaller pc is for surfing and admin and it shares the center monitor. Its has steel reinforcements on all joints.

between projects so its pretty clean now :)

Desk to the right and the end is self made, just a plate and legs. The table to the left is a used one I got from the danish rail CAD/CAM deptm.

If you go into that thread indicated by Mike (2nd post in this) you will find the photos. Not much need to do it all again.
DGates wrote on 4/27/2009, 1:00 AM
No one's posted in that thread for a year and a half.

;P)

Yes, so anyone who has got a new or better photo and wants to air it can post in this thread. For the purpose requested, the old photos are satisfactory.

A couple of shots of my current setup - [keep in mind I'm just starting out and still acquiring equipment when money is available]. It's a setup that's getting me by until we can sell our current home and move into something bigger with a better layout.

The desk is from IKEA's "Jerker" line which has been discontinued

What's the html code to put a picture in this space. Do I have to upload the picture to someplace like Fliker.
