wat is best video editing program for mpeg 4

im fed up ive spent 2 fuking weeks trying to find a way to import my mpeg4 xvid compressed files to vegas and only audio shows up ive tried every thing that every one has told me and has come to no help wat program will run these files and is reall good and costs heaps or help me get vegas working thx

Your mistake is trying to edit in any form of MPEG if you don't have to. While there are editors designed for MPEG editing, Vegas isn't one of them. Oh you can do it in a pinch, sometimes,but as you've seen you may end up with nothing but black video frames.

The simple and quick fix is open your mpeg4 files in VirtualDub (it will open many, but not all) and render out to uncompressed AVI. For best results you'll need the NTFS file system, a fairly fast PC and a BIG hard drive. Then import THIS source file into Vegas.

My guess is the majority view in this forum is not many use or like the DivX format. Lots of reasons why.
