wav noise bursts

When I bit play I get a very loud burst of white noise after which the audio plays properly. ASIO drivers and sample rates etc appear correctly configured. I am using a 44.1 24 bit wav file with no processing. Vegas Pro 16/Windows 7. How can Ii fix this?

What sample rate is your Vegas editing session set for? Normally for video it would be 48kHz. So it might be a sample rate conversion thing. Also check the ASIO driver buffer settings. Changing them might help.
