Waves and 'old' project in V8.0b

I have a project that was created in Vegas 7 or may be older.
(I can open it in V7 in XP on one computer and all is OK.
.
When I open it in V8 on Vista 32, I get a window saying:
"Warning: An error occured while trying to open a project file from a previous version.
An error occured when loading a plugin or plugins The plugins specified are not installed on the system."
Then Details says:
"Pulgin 'Waves X-noise mono' failed to load. Please make sure the plug in is properly installed.'
.
I reinstalled Waves - same problem. I followed the instructions on the WAVES WEB site about refreshing (Options/Preferences/VST Effects) - same problem. I followed their instructions to delete and reinstall (and did the refresh again just in case <g>) - same problem.
.
Called WAVES and they said I would have to redo the plug in settings (actually they said I would have to recreate the project!)
.
Once open in V8, I can add the plugin to the audio track.
If I use the folder and disk icons, the file is .fxp.
If i use the load / save buttons on the WAVES it uses a .XPS file.

I saved the settings in the V7 version and saw that it went to a file with .DXP, but in V8 when I tried to load the settings, it wanted only .FXP.
.
As this is going to a Vegas directory, I can only guess it is a Vegas change. However, the settings from the Sony EQ are there.
.
Any ideas would be helpfull.
.
Thanks.
