Wax - Additional beta testers needed.

satish wrote on 1/15/2004, 5:07 PM
"Wax" plugin for Vegas is coming out in great shape (currently in beta) and pretty close to being released. Features include full support for 3d objects, lights, camera movement, 3D text, use external 3D model files like .3ds .md2, Particles and a few other plugins... pretty soon would include rotoscoping as well.

Additional beta testers are needed to test the plugin and help improve stability (still having a few stability issues...). Interested Vegas users please send a mail to webmaster-at-debugmode-dot-com to get started.

Thanks
Satish

Sounds interesting, although if you are having stability problems I dunno that I want to be a beta :-)

I'm intrigued as to what it does though - a bit more detail of its function?

Cheers

Thanks, Satish, for the excellent job with Winmorph, Plug-in pack and Wax (this one I'm gonna try from now on).

To kevgl: please, just go to http://www.debugmode.com/wax/ and READ the text. Thanks.

Wax works as a plugin for Vegas giving you many plugins like the ones mentioned in my post - 3d text, 3d objects, lights, shadows, particles, 3d models from external files... Wax is built to give you a good set of tools for all your common FX needs...

By stability problems i mean occasional crashes. In the two PCs i use it does not crash at all (thats why i am unable to fix them yet and asking for beta testers :-) ). So there you go...

Actually it is much more than what that webpage specifies.. That page talks about the earlier version which was very basic...

Sounds interesting, I'll keep my eye out for the release.

Hi Satish...this is sounding amazing! I am a 3D guy, so will be very interested to check out the possibilites....hope that you will eventually incorporate obj. format for models eventually, as it uses untriangulated meshes, unlike 3ds.
Anyway, I have sent you an email...

Cheers

Zendorf, I'm not planning to include .obj because many apps write .obj files differently and some do not write any colour info/texture info at all etc... But Wax currently supports 3DS, MD2 (Quake II models) and Milkshape MS3d models... if anything you should able to import your .objs after converting to one of these three.

I am currently a beta tester now have been since it started. There is no other problems with Vegas if you have problems with Wax that I have experienced. This program is going to be awesome once he finishes adding rotoscoping but even now it is a very very cool Plugin. I think the least people can do here and help out Satish who is doing this for free to build you guy’s one hell of a powerful plugin. I always see people posting about “Are there any new plugins for Vegas”, well there is now and you can even ask for certain things which he has added per my request. Now I don't want to speak for Satish and say he will add anything and everything as he can't obviously add every request in but if you suggest a good idea that actually would fit in with what he is trying to accomplish then I think he would be willing to do so. I am really surprised that more people have not been willing to beta test this for him, Production machines I can understand and if you have a busy schedule as I do but come on if people could play around with it for 3 or 4 hours a week x 100 people I am quite certain this would help him out.

PS. Sorry if I overstepped my bounds Satish ;-)
Once again thanks Satish for all your hard work!
I will try to get more testing done as I have noticed that it has got quite slow on the "Mailing List" latley

First let me thank you for your contributions to the Vegas world. I wonder why you are still doing it for free. Please count me in for the beta.

Thank you for the overwhelming support, the beta test team is in full capacity and full swing. I wouldnt need more testers for now. Hopefully Wax would be available soon in public for all of you to use.
