Which dynamic ram preview are you supposed to set to 0...the one within vegas or the one within wax prefrences? Also, if anyone has tips on getting wax to run with the latest version of Vegas I love to hear them...I have wax installed but it's very unstable.
Actually Wax on it's own works fine but when I try to use it as a plug in within Vegas I usually have to shut down Vegas because when I try to click on the wax transitions or effects it freezes up Vegas. Sometimes I can get a transiton or effect to work but then it gives me some kind of error message saying to make sure Vegas can run scripts. I found that if I turn off hardware accelleration it works a little better and it takes longer to get the error message but it seems like I am doing something wrong because I have wax installed on 2 computers and the exact same kind of problems are on both computers.
I'm not a frequent post-er anymore, but I did try Wax 2.0e with Vegas 4 last night and it worked fine, once I figured out that I should use the Wax Video (or Vegas) preferences shortcut BEFORE launching vegas, and in that dialog box set both the RAM to zero and check Use Dummy Media. (I'm not at my home PC, so I'm going from memory). Once I did that, it worked fairly well. Wax is much like After Effects "Lite". Now that I have some practice with AE, Wax is more understandable.
The one drawback I see so far is that you can do your settings in the Wax plug-in, but you may not be able to see how it effects your media in the timeline until you close the plug-in (note: that's probably due to the way I have it setup. Others may have a different experience)
I have been using wax 2e with Vegas 6d without any problems whatsoever. The memory that you have to set to zero is one that is in Vegas called "Dynamic RAM Preview max". This setting is accessed through the Video tab in the Options->Preferences menu.
Within Wax, I have set the RAM to 64 MB. As in the previous post, I too have enabled the checkbox for "Dummy Host Media". Otherwise I got all sorts of error messages.
Again, Wax has worked well for me as a plugin. My only complaint is that it does not anti-alias its 3D objects very well with respect to other objects and images in the scene.
