okay, downloaded demo of vv5. installed wax (default settings, etc.,) wax runs happily from own icon, but drop wax onto timeline causes white screen and nothing else. can close screen with close icon top right, but then can't restart vv5 till next boot (even stopping it under processes...)

it's not life or death, but it's sad....

Here is a short list of things that may help
Open Wax Preferences and select "Use Dummy Host Media in Wax plugin for Sony Vegas".
Make sure that all other options are unchecked and the option "Set Dynamic RAM preview" is set to 0.
Make also sure that no memory resident monitoring program is running such as Ad-Watch, Norton Auto Protect or other user installed applications that appear in the notification area of the taskbar.
If the above help and the transition dialog windows opens in Vegas select the "Software Renderer" setting (top right). If the option is not visible, drag the right side of the transitions properties window to expand it until it appears.
You can also try to drag n' drop the transition on the timeline while holding the "Shift" key. This will make the transition properties window not to open automatically. Once the transition is on the timeline click on the Wax transition "X" icon to open the dialog window.
If despite the abovementioned conservative settings Wax dialog window still gives you the blank screen you should post to the Debugmode Wax forum and get help directly from the author.

many thanks....

your first suggestion turned out to be the solution. that is, even after i'd checked saltash's site and did what he suggested (exactly your options to).

strange to say, when i 'used dummy media' after reading his site, still whiteout. after reading your post, set everything back to normal, then started off with your first suggestion, bingo.....

lifes like that....

many thanks,
