Way OT: how to do slow-mo

Jessica Simpson recently stunned Pamela Anderson by asking her how she ran so slowly in Baywatch:
“How did you guys run so slowly in the show’s opening scene. You know when you’re running down the beach?”
Pam, who played CJ in the show, was visibly taken aback, and delicately had to explain that those scenes were actually shot in slow motion.

And they pay these girls how much? :-)

Actually, there is a teenie bit of truth to that. They did have the actors run slower than usual, coupled with high speed on the cam. But if recollection serves, the slightly slower run looked fake when played slow, so they scrapped it. But...movies like "The Ring" and others have used slow action coupled with varying framerates. Recently saw a piece where they used the overcrank of the HVX200 coupled with super slow movement, then sped up several times in Vegas so some parts of the image are moving normal speed and others moving hyper fast. It's a great technique, if your actors can pull it off.
