Way OT...multi-personality computer

I know this is not the place to post this, but I know I can get an answer from the computer experts here, because Vegas users are all experts! Hope you don't mind...

I have a dial-up connection at work with my laptop. Works fine, but when I get home and use my wireless broadband connection my laptop still thinks I'm on my dial up connection.

I have disabled the modem and run the network connection wizard, but at home, when I try to get to a site, I get a box that wants me to connect (via modem)...but I'm already on my wireless connection??

I also have 2 different IE browsers... both with different favorites and links.

I know this is stupid, but I can't figure this one out.

Thanks for letting me ask, and thanks in advance,

Jon

In IE5/6 goto Tools|Internet Options (Connections). You probably want 'dial whenever a network connection is not present'.

The only exception is probably if you use PPPoE to establish each subscriber with your wireless access point or ISP. Which you, (again probably,) probably don't.

If you go out of range, you might be asked to dial-up. Stay in range, or go back into range and cancel that dialogue.

hope that helps?

Thanks, RBartlett

I tried to change the connections settings, but I still get the 'connect' or 'work offline' message box while using my wireless network.

I'll mess around some more & see if I can figure it out.
