Ways to improve Slow Motion

I was just looking at the MJRoddy and Dean Capture stuff and was very impressed with the slow motion they are achieving. I'm looking at my footage and it's quite sharp except on the slow motion parts. During those segments, the image seems to degrade quite a bit.

I've yet to do some experiments but is there anyway to improve my slow motion ? I'm looking for as smooth slow motion as possible, with the sharpness and clarity I have in normal speeds.

I find Vegas to be excellent for slo-mo, though I doubt if it can ever really maintain the sharpness of normal speed video.

One setting to check that can affect the quality of your slo-mo is the Deinterlace method in the Project Settings. The choices available are Blend Fields, Interpolate Fields and None. I suggest you use Interpolate Fields to begin with, and then try the others to compare the results.

Do a search on my user name and "slow motion." I've answered this question a lot. I also contributed to a FAQ over at the VASST site that has lots of slo-mo tips.

Here's a link to the VASST FAQ:

Scroll down until you find the slow motion Q&A.

John that was a fantastic link. I read the slow motion part and that certainly will help with some experiments. Thank you so much for that link....I'll read the rest of that this weekend.

I really DO gotta start reading some of these articles, you guys are smart.
