Just thought I'd see what you guys were up to this weekend. Stonefield did one of these types of posts a few weeks back and we got some very interesting responses.
Re-editing the last 50 mins. of my DV feature after consulting with an editor with real movie-studio experience & relearning everything I thought I knew; anxious to use Vegas' new A/V-sync, media manager and audio scrubber.
One of my all time favorite classic rock songs....
ME ??? I'm shooting some NEW FOOTAGE of a pretty blonde russian girl tommorrow and then another girl on Monday night. Hopefully it'll go well. If it does.....you'll see some results.....
I am shooting a MMA/NHB event on Sat. night. I have two students fighting on the card and I will have a table set up selling DVDs (past shows and training vids). I hope to have the DVD of Sat's show up for sale with in the week.
I'm shooting for a new fundraidser type video for another non-profit org... going to be out and about around Laguna Beach... particularly on Sunday. I did some quick concept type shooting yesterday afternoon... assembled it into a short piece set to music... showed it to the client today (to help them see where I was thinking of taking them) and they were exstatic with what they saw.
I've had two such situations recently where a client came to me with an idea... and I surprised them by showing something specifically tailored to what they were looking for... and ended up getting some very good business from it.
I guess that's what they call "selling your stuff"... but this way of doing it seems to have such a high success rate... that I think I'll look at doing this for more projects.
Editing a HDV short on sail racing -- while getting to grips with Vegas 6. No problems to date (with V6). Should be out sailing, but well, the weather isn't great.
Finishing up a season video for the HIgh School Indoor percussion group. On Monday have to tape some testimonials to add before burning the disks. The two instructors will not be returning and they will be missed by the kids.
The announcement (that the instructors would not be returning) was made the other night. at a banquet and instantly 50 drummers went silent - yes they all were silent no tapping, chattering, or any noise what so ever. Scary
I like Serena am taking a break from getting to know V6 and going sailing, (let my chair cushion and my a$$ unflatten a little).
Weather here on the gulf coast of FL is awful today 79 deg sunny and winds 5-10 knots. hmm should we take the trimaran or the catamaran..........decisions decisions.............
Finishing up a piece to be presented at a local soccer club's end-of-season banquet....Highlight clips and photos from 13 teams over the course of a season: all condensed into 20minutes.
Taking my new Z1 out for a spin. We've had snow off and on the past week, finally a break. Trees are still bleak, and the ski crowds are all gone. Off season for a spell. Gotta little, empty rodeo ground that might give an interesting opening sequence when the summer crowds arrive and fill it up. Darryl
I've got three DVD projects that I need to finish by Monday morning. One is a single DVD with a relatively simple menu structure and just an hour of material. The other two projects are multiple DVD's with some insanely complicated menus and over 6 hours of video. I've got a few machines working on the MPEG2 renders and they should be done this afternoon sometime. In the meantime, I think I'll go for a hike in the Petroglyphs, which is just about a mile away from here. Then I'll come back and try to wrap my head around how I'm going to do these menus the way the client wants.
Putting together an 8-12 min vid for mothers day for a church here in town. Just finished taping the last interviews - hoping that I can sweeten some of the audio - seem to be getting a bit of a hiss of the mics (AT899 and AT898 - don't really know what the deal is).
Anyway - trying to get some images etc... to keep it from being a bunch of talking heads for 10 minutes :)
My old, recently rehabbed Panasonic AG-DV 1000. Discontinued, I'm afraid.
Looking over my post, I realize that it may have looked like the DV deck and the VCR/DVD unit were all one unit. In fact they are two units: the DV1000 and a new Samsung DVD-VR320 DVD recorder/VHS combo (should arrive on Monday).
I got the Samsung because it has firewire in, and a single set of S-Video outputs for both DVD and VHS. Looking over the manual, it says it will record to VHS directly from the firewire input. Keeping my fingers crossed it will work as advertised.
The "Hot Docs" film festival is on in Toronto - so will try to catch a flick and also going to see "Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room" tomorrow.
Right now, taking a break from finishing 2 of the 3 videos I have to edit by Monday (short ones, so should be no problem).
