Weekend Projects - What's up guys ?

Hey all...hope your early summers are going well.

Just curious what you guys are up to this weekend ? Shoots, edits, family, writing, etc.

I've a bit of a surprise for everyone, I'm actually shooting a WEDDING on Saturday. Stills AND video. Usually I'd leave that up to the experts, but I HAD to shoot this as it's non-other than Sylvie. Anyone that knows my work knows how special she is to me so I feel grateful to shoot her wedding.

Then back from the wedding on Sunday afternoon, then away on holidays on Tues until July 11. Busy busy busy....

What's up with you ???

Stan

I am shooting a Motorcycle rally. There will be about 1500 bikes, and all the ladies will be dressed as Catholic school girls.

Anyone wanna top that?

Editing a 2.5 hour corporate, about 100 PPT slides to drop into it, probably wade through another 20 hours of audio to edit.
Today I turned down a job, 20 sec insert for a TVC, to be shot on either DigiBeta or HDCAM, way over my head as it was inside a moving car.

Since I've been full-time in this business, never really separated weekends from weekdays. Client popping by this morning to view two TV spots. They may need some tweaking. The spots. That could run into the weekend. Always stuff to do. Clean up system. It's a mess. Archive projects. Maybe this weekend I'll try to learn some of the new features in Vegas 6.0b. Maybe before the release of Vegas 7.0. Thinking about subbing part of job to an animator,---but if there's time left over this weekend may explore the capabilities of 3D in Vegas. So many things to learn,--- so little time, so few brain cells left.
Oops there go another million!
Darn.
Have a good weekend.

Wish I was hangin' with you, Jimmy W. As much as I love Film Festivals, it gets tiring really fast with the travel. We're in Edmonton, Canada for the DreamSpeaker's Film Festival. Much larger this year than last year, and some really great films here. Quite a few Veg-heads too.

Saturday and Sunday - Finishing a wedding to deliver on Tuesday. This will be the longest project I've done, about 1.5 hours. Gotta get plugged into DVDA functions to have different menu items call the same media (like a play all and individual chapters). Earlier this week we got a last minute call to shoot a wedding tonight. Will pay in full tonight, so heck yeah.

Assisting a buddy who's shooting an art opening tonight, which will later be dropped into a feature film (as the artist is also acting in my buddy's film, portraying an artist. Life imitates art. Plus, there's cubes of cheese, cheap wine, and the usual assortment of oddballs.)

Working also on tech details after reviewing the script for this film.

Rendering some boxing / martial arts footage from a few years ago, that to go to DVD for one of the fighters.

Perhaps adding some vid clips to the website.

Still editing a local reading of Hamlet. This sounds like a big deal, but it isn't. But it is a long job. So I've just taken a break to go walking in the sunshine (but left the machine running!).

Taking the XM2 out into the English countryside, which is a bit sodden today as we had a large lump of water descend on us in the last 24 hours! HAH!

Here's Glastonbury:

Camping? Not in Glasto . . oh no ..!

Having a glass of wine, taking some time out to learn some 3D parent/child compositing for some opening titles, with the excellent help of Gary Kleiner's V5 DVD, then a glass of wine, then I'll compose some music to go with it, then I'll have ............................ I know - a glass of wine!

Spending a weekend with just me and my 4-year old boy ("I'm four and a half!" he insists) while my wife is out of town. We just saw Miyasaki's "Howl's Moving Castle" at the theater yesterday. (Two thumbs way up from Dad and Son!)

Today we're going to meet some of his buddies and beat the heat at a new waterpark opening up at the local YMCA.

After the youngster goes to bed, I'm going to try to figure out the best MP4 variant to use on my updated website, and try to finish editing the "bonus interviews" for a DVD release of a movie I made in 2000 about an anarchist punk bicycle gang.

Gary Kleiner, your project sounds AWESOME! I'd love to hear more! I might have topped that if you had asked me last week. Last weekend I travelled to a private shooting range in Northern Wisconsin to videotape "Militiaman Mark" firing an assortment of rifles, carbines, shotguns and handguns at a stuffed, talking doll of "Puss in Boots" from the movie "Shrek 2." We added a strategically placed bottle of ketchup behind the toy cat for dramatic effect.
