weird audio drops

Hi. I have audio drops in my captures but actually, I hear these drops when monitoring and previewing the tape in the capture window (pyro1394 and canon zr-10).

At first I was thinking that it could be a monitoring problem so I've turned off audio monitoring but the drops were still there in the capture.

Anyway, I'm able to make audio recordings and multi-track playback in all my other apps, and even with vegas via my analog inputs so the problem seems to be with the firewire card or between the camera and/or the card and/or software, but only when using firewire. Am I clear??

I installed xp last week and I've got these problem since then so it should have something to do with xp. ADS says on their site that the drivers works with all windows OS.

Any ideas?

Thanks

try sizing your Video Capture video preview window down to a small(er) size- this often reduces the capture/preview audio hiccups. If you have glitches in the captured file, it is a different issue, but for now I assume the captured clips are clean.

If you upgrade to XP rather then a clean install, XP will try to utilize the older firewire drivers etc. rather then a more proper install. If resizing etc. doesn't help, and if you upgraded to XP, might want to reinstall the firewire etc. Also wouldn't hurt to go to http://www.blackviper.com/index.html to make sure there's nothing uneeded running in XP (depending on your version, there can be a whole lot of services enabled by default).
