Weird .AVI file issue

I am using SF Video Capture 2.0h. It captures the video fine and saves it to an .avi file on computer #1. That file will play back with Windows Media Player, SF VidCap, and will import fine into SFVF1.0 on computer #1. Now when I take that very same file over to my other computer (#2) it will only play like it is an audio only file in WinMedia Player and SFVF1.0 thinks it is an audio file only as it will not let me drag/drop it into the video tracks. Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like there's a codec missing on computer #2. That said, I've just had a look at the codecs installed on my system (via control panel / multimedia) and I can't see anything obviously associated with VF.

You might be on to something. I checked and there is a HUGE disparity in the number of CODECs on #1 compared to #2. The problematic #2 machine only has a few CODECs installed. Now I need to figure out which ones I need and how to get them. Any ideas? I am using Windows Media Player 7.01 under Win98SE with all the latest Microsoft updates and patches.

Since I didn't have VF installed on my 98SE system I tried recording which codecs were installed, installing VF, and then rechecking. No difference I'm afraid!
I was going to try the same with XP, but decided to see if it would play a VF avi *before* I installed VF. It did!
Could you install VF on #2 machine and see if that works? The codecs are obviously not proprietary, so uninstalling VF afterwards should leave them intact.

I downloaded and installed this Windows Media codec utility and installed old and new codecs at the prompt. It appears to have fixed the problem I was having.
