Weird display thingie.

Anybody else ever see anything like this? vegas-display-glitch.jpg

I see it occasionally when i switch from some other program to Vegas. Some form element from the other program will remain on the screen. It seems to happen most often when i switch from viewing these forums back to Vegas. I don't recall ever seeing it in ACID or 'Forge or DVDA though.

Not a problem at all. Just kinda freaky.

Looks like a display driver glitch where something in the frame buffer gets retained. Probably not life-threatening. I've not seen it.

I've not had that problem/artifact object either with vegas. I do have it though with windows media player and browsers. The object is retained for a few seconds while windows media player loads or the browser loads over top of it.

Probably a windows thingie. If the cpu(s) are busy with the main task at hand, a refresh of the screen can take a back seat. No matter how fast your video card is, Windows still has to tell it what to paint on the screen.

Nothing that a good reboot won't fix, probably. I tend to reboot before a final render anyway, to clear out the sludge.

Love it! My kinda language - "sludge". And yes, I do this too.

Kelly? I've had this and just regard it as the PC playing catch-up. I can get some really neat GHOSTS! - Explorer appearing within a WinMedia Player Window; ALT-Tabbing thru' programs can get me very strange combos of progs. Anybody remember "QuarterDECK"? For some who remember an ancient multitask s/w that worked in DOS? Oh yes DOS . . . It worked with the "terminate and stay resident progs" TSRs { was that what they were called? ) above and below the crucial, what, 51kb in RAM? Some figure like that? But yes, if I go fast thru' Alt+Tab I can a veritable LasVegas strip neon show going .. well not bAd, but close . . .

. .and speaking of "sludge" . . and if Kelly still has it on his Vegas VidShare site, one of the first there, I seem to recall, was Kelly's vid of actual sludge removal/pumping - an Oscar winner! A Palme d'Or of some magnitude. You still got it up there Kelso? Maybe it WAS a close-up of the innards of his PC? Huh! I've seen photos of his "Forest of Motherboard" and the "Creeping Jungles of CPU" . .. scary!

. . mind you, Kelly, I've never had that creepy "handwriting" thing? OOoooo, scary! Time to call out a friendly local exorcist! ☺

Running low on memory. Reboot which resets the paging file then everything OK. I get it all the time on huge projects about the end of the day.
