weird problem with panasonic firewire capture

I currently own a Panasonic DVX100 camera and Panasonic DV2000 Deck.
When capturing video with both of these devices using Vegas 6 video capture via firewire I've noticed a delay or lag when shuttling and capturing.

I originally thought that this was normal until I hooked up my Sony VX2000 camera to capture some footage and it worked instantaneously....no lag or delays with the shutlle and capture features.

Is there some setting that I need to adjust for the Panasonic stuff?

Nope.
I see this with our DV 2000 decks where there is latency in control. We see this in a few Sony products, and all 3 Canon products.
The VX is one of the more common cams, it may be that it's tweaked better, I dunno. The Sony products overall do tend to respond better, but I notice this with Premiere and Avid too.

Thanks for the reply Spot! ;-)

I was amazed at how much more responsive my Sony VX2000 was than my other Panasonic stuff was....my shuttles and captures were lightning fast.

Hopefully this is something that Sony can fix in Vegas 7 :-))

I don't have this problem with my DVX100 but i use Scenalyser for capture.

Maybe dvxuser forum has an answer for this ?

I own a VX-2000 and a PV-DV953. I have had a similar experience to you in that my Panasonic seems to stutter after shuttling and also occasionally does not allow video to be captured correctly. The Sony works brilliantly. Too bad, I'd rather shuttle tapes with the cheaper camera with the larger display!

Corey,
just to clarify, this is a hardware problem, I believe, not a Vegas problem. I see the same exact behavior with Avid and Premiere.

DSE,
That's strange as my Premiere Pro doesn't show the same problem at all....I can't comment on Avid as I don't own that software....Hopefully somebody at Sony might have some insight on this.
