weird text problem, never seen this

I have a video of a home vacation back in 1989, and the first few seconds (which I froze and stretched out for a title section) are of a hotel. I added a text layer and wrote out the city name, then positioned and tilted the name to fit on the front of the hotel.

In the preview window, it looks perfect, but when I render it, the text comes out lower by quite a few pixels. The angle of the text is correct, but the position is quite a bit lower.

Any idea what would cause this, especially since it looks correct in the preview window?

Thanks

ok, I found that it overlays correctly if I accidentally render to fullscreen, but not if I render as widescreen. My project is widescreen, as is the main title section. However, my footage is fullscreen (SD) from a very old vhs recording.

I've seen text move around too. It occurs when we change the pixel aspect ratio. We use an anamorphic pixel aspect ratio of 1.212 to render out video that is stretched to 16:9 by a GPI trigger when it goes on the air.

If we render the same news story using pixel aspect of 1.000, all the text is out of position.

I don't know why this happens. Perhaps your problem is related to the pixel aspect ratio.

Good luck,

I think you're right, Dave. Thanks.
