weirdness using V4e and Sound Forge 6

I open a .wav in SF by right clicking and selecting open copy in SF. I edit, close the file in SF and click V4 to view it. Usually by the time I do that it has the new take there. Now I get an hour glass with media offline (while it's building peaks) then SF pops back up. I click on V4 in the taskbar and it does the same thing repeatedly. If I close SF completely V4 finally shows up and after about 30 seconds it's ready to go again. I've restarted but it does the same thing. Any thoughts?
TIA,
Randy

Randy, have you installed any new plugins? Changed any locations of Sony folders? You might try going to Options>Prefs, changing the default editor just by pointing it to Sound Forge again. Could be some weird corruption that's happened.

Well that didn't help Spot but I think you're onto something as this particular 6 track, 8 minute project takes about 25 seconds to open while another 5 track, 14 min. project takes less than 2 seconds.
Update: I was just running some more tests ....I deleted the audio tracks from the problem project and saved as "test.veg". I reopened it and it only took about 15 seconds (still substantially longer than usual though). I then opened the 5 track, 14 min. .veg and this time it took over 20 sec. I then opened another version of the problem .veg and it took over 2 minutes.
The more I jacked around the more sluggish, unresponsive the (fast but not overclocked) PC got, even with V4e "closed". I went to restart and it took several seconds just to open the start menu. One time yesterday, I went to restart after "closing" V4 and got the Windows report that V4 was not responding and it gave the option to wait and save; I waited but it still showed to be unresponsive.
Panda shows no viruses.
Thanks Spot,
Randy

I'm sorry to bring this up again but I wonder if this sort of behavior could be due to the registry being mucked up. Ulead makes software called "Winguides Registry Mechanic", do you feel there is a chance that this could help?
TIA,
