Sorry to be negative after your hard work, but I would prefer a presentation where the hard work had been put into selecting the view of most interest, or if several, then showing them consecutively.
I don't get it... I found the black center tile annoying and the music didn't go with the video. Most of the time none of the cameras were capturing anything interesting. But what do I know....
The black center bugged me too, but a camera there would just be a selfie & I only have 5.
I debated shoving the bottom views together...
I was trying to approximate a stitched panorama this go-round & agree focusing on full frame, individual camera, views would be the better default view.
It brings to mind for me a couple of artists and their projects. One is a film called "The Man Who Could Not See Far Enough" by Peter Rose. His work was done on optical printers and would have taken much much longer to finish, of course. And it was kind of lyrical and poetic and designed for exhibition.
The other person that comes to mind is a guy named Jim Pomeroy who was filming into a mirrored pall and then later projecting back into that mirrored ball onto a spherical screened area that you could walk into the effect was a kind of hemispherical projection, but I imagine it was pretty dim.
So what you've got here is a technique that you could apply in a few ways. Certainly worth doing and worth refining. I imagine the Monterey Bay Aquarium must have a projection space in the building somewhere. Maybe you should set a goal of producing something to get you a guest artist gig.
I liked the concept, especially where clips overlapped to give a panorama effect!
What are you using for cameras and lights? I like New Blue's ColorFast to color correct clips taken at different times so that they look like the same time. You might trial that if you don't already have it and see how it works for you.
I didn't understand the black square. A selfie is okay but maybe it should move around in the squares and not stay in the same square all the time.
Maybe it's just me, but I like Smartsound's new age-y music for my scuba vids.
Last time I went diving dry was 2007. Yes, I am spoiled with warm water now and I am a wimp : )
These are Looxcie HD cameras. I only have 5, thus the black square.
I agree with the "black square" comments. I thought about shoving those clips together, but by that time just couldn't face making any more changes.
As for the music...well...love it or hate it, that's what I play. <G> I mix it up between fiddle, banjo and occasional guitar music in my vids. I get the best feedback on my guitar recordings, though I know the least on that instrument.
Aside from a couple of years wreck diving in North Carolina, and a few trips, I've always been a California shore diver (certified in '81). I love warm water, but am at home in cozy green water & kelp forests.
Is that you playing the music? Well that changes everything! Now just to fit the right music to the right video sequence. Your choices are almost limitless if you can create your own music : )
