Haven't done any yet, but I'm getting close. From what I've read, the Verbatim DVD+R DL disks are hard to beat. They burn at 8x on the newest burners. I saw a sale for a 10-pack for about $24 yesterday.
Some respondents claim a properly-burned Verbatim DL disk play on every DVD player they've tried. By contrast, the DVD-R DL disks are apparently a disaster.
I have burned (1) Verbatim disc (+R) and it played on the computer player with Power DVD and my LG 3510-A tuner player. So I was real happy. I might add after setting DVD-A3 to 2 sides burning and adding a center marker on a 3hr 46 min project it worked flawlessly.
by properly burned, this usually means with a burner that either sets the booktype to DVD-ROM automatically, or using software that can cause a burner to change the booktype to DVD-ROM if the burner supports this. As -R media doesn't support changing the booktype it's not a surprise that they have playability issues.
