What did I do wrong?

I have been working on a project for a few days now mailnly cutting out unwanted portions. I had a gap & tried to drag an event to the left. What I found was that I had several copies of the same clip stacked one on top of the other. I don't use the takes feature. As I selected each clip & deleted it I found another copy of the same event below it. There were 4 copies one on top of the other. I would like to know what I could have done wrong so that i don't do it again. Any Ideas?

I suppose this might happen if you are selelcting multiple events by using the Ctrl key... a slight move of the mouse could possibly duplicate clips.

Long shot, but hard to say otherwise...

I was opening some rendered .avi files in VV4 to render them to MPEG 2. I opened several before I found the exact one I wanted. I found that I was stacking them on the timeline. Since I was not titling them, just looking, it appeared to just have the file I wanted to see on the time line because the new one was always on top. That would make for some huge files I guess if you rendered them. If you want to create a new .veg file from a rendered .avi file, or render the edited .avi to another format, be sure to close the current file first by selecting new before you open the file. It took me a while to figure out what was happening.
