Maybe. Not everyone's sold on it yet, because of the royalties involved.

For h.264 or WMV exports:

For XViD, search the forum for a reply about this question, I had a link where to download the codec.

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0b and if I select MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) for a "Save as type" my only "Template:" choices are "Default Template", "Apple iPod 320x240 Video", and "Apple iPod 640x480 Video" and the "Custom..." button is grayed out in all three choices.

The plug-in is: MainConcept AVC/AAC File Format Plug-In Version 1.0 (Build 2210). {mcmp4plug.dll}

So why can't I get to the the screen shown in Eugenia's visual guide to export to MainConcept (recommended method)? The Sony AVC option works as shown in that visual guide but I can't get the MainConcept plug-in to work as shown.

Thanks!

Pete

You must learn to read more carefully. MainConcept is to be used with Vegas Pro only. For Platinum, as it's mentioned in the article, you should only use WMV or Sony AVC.
