I am in great need of help to use certain functions of my camcorder. It is not really a Movie studio problem..I only know how to copy pictures using a card reader. (but can't see any pictures using the one I have) I want to learn how to copy my pictures onto my PC (vista 64 bit) and a laptop (window7) without using the PMB software ....I don't understand the Fat file system problem... .. then there is the Vista 64 bit work around... I am totally lost.... So, what forum could I use?

The UCF, Unknown Camcorder Forum.

But seriously, telling us what camcorder mfg and model would help.

FAT32 is an obsolete hard drive format (although drives still come from the factory in this format). It's main liability is that it has a file size limit -- which can choke video editing.

As for moving your video from your camcorder to your computer -- you do know that Vegas Movie Studio has a feature called Device Explorer that allows you to browse your video clips and select which you copy from your cam to the computer, right?

In addition to this forum, there's a great general discussion Community Forum for consumer video editing equipment and software on http://Muvipix.com There are amateurs as well as pros on the forum there that will get you a quick answer to almost any video or computer-related question.

But rather than asking all of these things randomly on a forum, you might want to check a simple book on the basics. I've got one on Amazon.com if you're interested.
