What Happened to John's What Do You Look Like?

LATER EDIT: As stated in a recent post below, the board got fixed so... Go see

That was the most active thread in a while, and a fun one. But I can't access it in FF2 or IE7. Have tried several times, cleared cache, rebooted browsers -- still no-go.

Maybe too many editor mug shots freaking out the sensibilities of Sony servers? :)

I get the Sony error page beginning with "The page you are trying to reach has generated an error. Please check that you have not tried to access a partial or erroneous URL."

Other threads work fine. If that one got corrupted beyond repair, we could always create a sequel.

I had that same thing happen on a post I responded to. It turns out that I inaccurately entered a link which corrupted the entire thread.

Maybe my Larry Craig police mugshot pushed them over the edge. Maybe the "wide stance" of the photo "corrupted" the thread.

Okay, I have to fess up -- my photo must have broken it. Sorry.

I'm certainly not good looking, but dang -- I didn't think I was so ugly that my photo would break a thread. Or perhaps a moderator saw my photo and decided that he should take action before the rest of you were subjected to it.

I added a photo a little after 9PM tonight, and the thread came back okay after I posted it. I saw my photo was distorted (I had submitted a photo that was something like 600x490, and the forum will resize photos to keep them 600x400 max -- hence the distortion). So I uploaded a smaller version to photobucket and went to fix the link, and on submission got the error screen we are seing now.

I've tried on two separate computers, but cannot get that thread to load. And that thread shouldn't be particularly difficult for the Sony servers -- they are just sending url's of the photos -- your browser is then fetching the photos directly from the appropriate internet locations.

I really enjoyed that thread -- thought about printing it out. I hope they can fix it.

(Ugly enough to crash a server)

Edit: Jetdv -- I think the Sony forum code is home grown, so what you're suggesting is perhaps my edited photo link had a mistake in it, and the Sony forum code is not fault-tolerant enough in this case and therefore the thread aborts somehow? Hopefully they can take a quick look at their code and fix it.

Yes, it was a good thread. Of course I did think John Cline might have started it because he had that wonderful portrait of himself, and was disappointed I couldn't find a teenage photo of me with my Arri 16BL (to match that which farss posted). On the whole I thought a good looking lot of guys, which was probably the reason for taking it down!

"On the whole I thought a good looking lot of guys, which was probably the reason for taking it down!"

The "don't hate me because I'm beautiful..." syndrome in reverse.
Ah, these insecure servers. When will they realize they are beautiful too...

Maybe they should plug into Oprah.com and get some tips :)

I just tried it. Maybe 58 replies is too many. I enjoyed it also.

Would Sony please comment and/or fix?

Was I the only collegiately aged person? I was so looking forward to discovering that tintapeman, scare_crow_inc, and CreativeCowardlyLion were really all of my old classmates of 2002.

I'm close at 27. If I wouldn't have tried so hard, I could still be there today :)

Well high fives, jrazz! Here's to fond memories of Canadian-made cartoons, girls with Pony Tails, Glow Worms, and the one and only original Teddy Ruxpin.

Ah, this thread is fortunately irrelevant.
