What is going on here?

I'm a registered owner of Vegas 4+DVDA and so is my buddy. I go to purchase the V5 + DVDA2 upgrade on the Sony site and it costs $199. My buddy does the same thing and the cost is $249. So, I send him the direct link that I'm looking at and on his computer it still says $249. What is going on? Why won't Sony let him purchase it for $199? He wants to purchase via his computer. What is the deal?

Call Sony, they will be able to help out your friend and get him the right price or a refund if he already purchased it. I ordered my upgrade to Vegas for $200, then a hour later I got a e-mail saying I could get it for $149, I called Sony and they issued me a refund for $50.

Mmh, now THIS one happened to me: The first day version 5 was out I ordered and payed for my Vegas+DVD update $250 and an hour later it was offered for $200. I contacted Sony three times via the support side to ask for a refund but I not even got an answer. Not that good ...

I think something is completely wired with some of their web-sites. But whatever it is - it is no good for their customers.

Tell him to try using 6377-9999 (or, if that doesn't work, just 6377) for the promotional code. Your browser is putting the code in for you because it's stored in your cookies files from when you bought the software.

Have patience with the support site; I submitted a request for the rebate and it took almost a week for a response. But they did get back to me, and rebate the difference between the original and promo upgrade prices.
