What is the best format for DVD

I use Vegas movie studio to create teaser videos for book releases. I render two version; one to display on the web and one to burn a DVD for viewing on a t.v. screen. I render as MPEG for internet, but what is the best format to render for buring a DVD to give me the clearest results on a tv?

Any tips on getting better renders (web or DVD) will be much appreciated!

Here's the mpeg example on Veoh:

DVDs must be MPEG2. Currently there is no other choice. Choose the appropriate DVD Architect template when rendering.

Your webvideo certainly looks cristal clear. I can't see how that could be further improved.
Rendering a movie in avi avoids compression artifacts, but DVDA will re-render this file to mpg anyhow. So rendering in mpg directly basically is a time and disk-space saver. Use the convenient dvd template in DVDA and you'll be fine. Just keep in mind not to go over the 4.7GB capacity limit of the dvd (if you do, DVDA wil recompress).
