What is the Copy/Paste Convention, on Group?

This HAS to do with the Copy/Paste thread I started, but I have realised I am working within a Group and this may well have something to do with that result. But I realise now that "Grouping" has something to bring to the "table"!

OK: I have 2 Events in a Group.

Event 1 has a Bezier

Event 2 has an FX within it

I want to COPY and PASTE/Atrib the FX from Event 2 to a new event, Event 3. What I am getting is the BEzier from Event 1. BUT, if I Ungroup Event 1 & 2 and CAN get what I want - the Fx from Event 2 into Event 3, without the Bezier from Event1.

Is there a Copy/Paste Attrib "GROUP"-convention for VegasPro8? This doesn't happen in Vegas6.

Please check this for me.

I have just checked in Vegas 5, and it works. I can copy/paste from ONE of a group to another event and get ONLY what I want.

Please check for me, good people,

Grazie

Looks like you found a nasty bug there Grazie. I just check in Vegas 6 and it works as expected. When I Copy and Paste Attributes in Vegas 6, I get the attributes from the event that I copied from even though that event was in a group with other video events.

When I tried this in Vegas Pro 8.0, however, I experienced the same bizarre behavior that you just did. I copied from an event and got NONE of the attributes from the event I copied from when pasted! The attributes came from an entirely different event on another track in a different place on the timeline simply because the two events were grouped.

This is never the expected behavior and looks like a bug. When would you ever want to right-click an event and select copy and have another events attributes copied? (never)

[edit] hmmm.... it gets worse. Paste works the same way as Paste Attributes. So if you group events together on the timeline and then decide later that you want to paste one of them, they all get pasted! So maybe it's a side-effect of a change in the way grouping works? (maybe we need a Copy and Copy Group?)
