What is the standard for DVD audio levels?

How should I determine what my audio levels should be? I want my DVD to have the same average volume as a store--bought DVD. I know that different types of productions have different audio dynamics (i.e., action film vs. training video). However, I would think there is some standard. How can I accomplish this? Thank You.

The standard I've always heard and strived for is -6 db. However, you will be within spec if you never go above 0 db. Since that is the hard legal limit, it's best to stay under, which is why -6 is recommended.
