What is wrong with my Vidcap?

Hey all,

All of a sudden my vidcap is acting wonky. When I try to change the folder to which it saves captured video, it locks up when I click "OK" or "APPLY". It also does it if I disable scene detection and then "APPLY". I updated to 8.0c and still have the same problem. When I say locks up, I mean locks up hard requiring a reboot and in some cases a reset. Am I overlooking something?

Just an update. It seems that merely opening Vidcap causes a crash. Once it crashes, everything seems to become unstable and unresponsive.

Perhaps a reinstall of Vegas is in order?

Well a complete reinstall of Vegas didn't correct the problem. Looking for Plan B now.

Does the rest of Vegas work?

From what are you capturing? Deck or camera?

Way back I had issues with the actual hardware. How is the plumbing to the PC? Are your connection solid and well secure? Are the cables failing? Have you tried "another" deck/camera?

There's lots to check.

Vidcap is a self contained program I think. You can just copy VidCap.exe onto any PC and it will work.
I'd be taking on board what Grazie is saying. The only time I've ever had any issues with VidCap was when the disk I was trying to capture to was on the way out. To test that theory try capturing to a different disk. Then again VidCap didn't crash, just sort of hung and after a while I got one of those "Delayed write failure" messages from the OS.
