What PC specs for good Vegas Editor ?

I'm going to buy a new PC just for editing Vegas...

What processor, processor speed, ram, etc should I buy to have a really good Vegas editing setup?

I don't need to buy the cheapest machine... I really want a good editing machine... so don't focus on the very bottom of the range.

I probably wont buy the most extreme (expensive) either... but that may depend on how much it cost... because I do want a really good editing machine.

And, we will probably be editing multiple video files on the timeline... if that can be done... in other words we put up 4 to 6 video tracks... one on top of the other on the timeline... and switch back and forth as we edit... (I'm not sure this requires more processing power or not... maybe someone can tell me.)

Any comments, suggestions and spec's would be helpful.

thanks for any help.

If not already, planning to head towards HDV?

Right now HD is not a consideration.

If that changes in 12 to 24 months we will buy a computer then for that.

So, right now we want a good machine to edit Standard Definition with Vegas.

thanks for any comments and suggestions and/or spec's.

If you search the forum over the past couple months there have been a couple threads on this that covered it pretty well.
