what produces

What SVMS10 encoder will produce the best rendered output Mpeg-2, 1920x1080x60i or the Sony AVC, 1920x1080x60i. I understand there are probably situations that favor one or the other. In general what would prevail? My native AVCHD source is shot with Sony HDRCX12 camera at 1920x1080x60i@16mbps and has a .M2T extension. What are the guru's recommendations...

I almost forgot to mension, is also compatable with DVDA5

Your camera is AVCHD, so you should export in AVCHD. You see, you favor and help the encoder encoding a better output when the kind of artifacts/encoding is "similar" to the one an AVC encoder understands. If you try to export in MPEG2, except the fact that MPEG2 has only 2/3s of the quality at the same bitrate compared to AVC, MPEG2 will try to re-encode different kind of artifacts, so you will end up in a mud. So stick with your kind of video.

Thanks Eugenia, thats what I have been doing with good results, I was just confiming my understanding. Now is it always best to encode the video and audio streams seperatly? I know that I have had sync issues in the past when encoding together, however if I just want a single file format for use with say USB flash drives that is what must be done, correct? What are your thoughts?

You only encode separately if you're trying to use DVDA after that.
