What's been your BEST experience with VEGAS? Top 500 List.. .

Grazie wrote on 2/23/2004, 10:58 PM
Hi Peeps! . . .. 'bout time we had a "Top 500 Favourites List".

I've been slowly coming to the point where I want to AND use a constant "loop" Preview to actually see what I'm doing .. e.g. changing text . .. and immeadiatley SEEING my changes . .

Wotz been your favourite editing thingy in Vegas. Please, no comparisons . . AGAIN! . . just what you've found that is really REALLY "neat" .. yeah?

Grazie

... the same here Grazie, combined intensively with dynamic RAM previews. I do it all the time..!
Can't wait for the day dough comes in and I get this P4 with 1,5 - 2 Go memory just for that reason!

Top thingy?
Well it's more of what it DOESN'T do:

CRASH!

Second on my list:

Absense of arcane widgets in the GUI.

You did say no comaprisions but I've just had a glass of Bourbon so I'm gonna make a comparison, OK!

I foolishly got sucked into trying to help someone with a FCP problem yesterday, I'd say 60% of the things on the screen that I asked the guy what they were for he didn't know and I'd be damned if they were obvious to me either. I'm happy about all the things that Vegas DOESN't do. Why, because everyone of them that people complain about is one more thing to clutter up the screen, one more thing to click at the wrong time and one more thing to explain to the newbies and another 50 pages to be added to the manual.

I like how you can have more then 1 copy open at once. :) 1 to render 1 to edit and 1 to impress people. :) That was with a p3-667 too. No slowdowns. :)

The way it's possible to have three windows open at once, showing RGB parade, color curves and the event, for adjusting the image.

Working with a company I consult with today and they had me in to train them on the basics .ie creating DVD's and such. The main guy there was using Premire 6.5 and had some questions on it. I answered them as I have used P before. I was very nice and didn't dog P. But he was complaining how he hated the preview of changes and stability problems. Anyways I just so happend to have my Laptop with me ,-) with Vegas and wanted to show him Vegas. Simply put he was blown away at the stuff I could do real time while video was playing back. Showed him how you could apply any FX and adjusting them while video was playing! He was very impressed to say the least. I love the real time effects of Vegas to me it is one of the best features.

Also the stability, I have only had Vegas crash 3 or 4 times and it always opened back up with what I was working on at the time and prompting me to save it.

So stable, Vegas rocks...the first time seeing that live preview and then turning on the loop, wow! And the user community is great, so helpful.

Easy to use.
Workspace friendly (especially with dual monitors).
Audio is second to none.
Transitions are for kids, but plentiful when you need them!

Generated text.
FX allows me to make my own digital backgrounds.

Adobe and FCP (final cut pro), YOU GOIN DOWN!!!
It's just a matter of time...

Combined with Sound Forge 6 or 7 it is an excellent audio editor, better than Adobe's latest offering and I prefer the SOny solution to Pro Tools (which is okay too, just not as easy to use)

Why is Vegas the best? Simply because you can create, instead of having to learn the conventions of the system (*cough, AVID, *cough). I feel like my hands are bound and tied whenever I shift over to Avid Xpress...

Best peripheral Vegas experience-- the fact that someone in this forum mentioned Particle Illusion 2 SE came with Digit. I have been hooked ever since! It truly beats the hell out of the AE particle system!

1. Most recent best exp. Was doing a picture montage with about 300 pics. I noticed a duplicate on the TL and wanted to replace it with one from the Media Pool. But the Media Pool and TL pics were only numbered NOT named. What to do to find a pic in the Media Pool, and not on the TL?
Right click, select events to end on pics on TL. Right click again, select, select in Media Pool, and (drum roll please) ALL events currently on the TL were grayed out and a few dozen pics not used were still with white background. WOW . More learning less headache.
2. Scripts and that community. John.

That is NOW becoming a real option as people are "Coming Out!" as it were .. I wanted to see what would come outta the woodwork on this .. I really am interested to see the real Golden Nuggets emerge. Our Vegas has much to offer .. I believe that if Sony would post this somewhere it would be a real .. I don't know .. . a real world expereintial thingy - yeah?

I'd like to see the SS having Gaps that could be updated by "new" ways .. New Futures and all that yeah? . .. More than just a "Wish List!" more of a Darwinian Evolution table of effectiveness - yeah?

I'll get on the case Grobsie .. promise!!

Simulatneously doing:
-4 (FOUR!) renders of one hour video each
-while listening to music
-and surfing the internet

on only an 800 mhz system...Vegas rocks.
