What's New in Vegas 2.0d?

What _is_ new in Vegas 2.0d with regard to audio?

I see the following two quotes, and no supporting evidence
or particulars.

"After extensive testing we are confident that this updated
version of DirectX improves the Vegas experience
significantly."

Exactly how is my Vegas _audio_ experience "improved" with
regard to the above?

"A bug that caused some Waves audio effects plug-ins to
crash during project load has been fixed."

If this is the only specific audio "improvement" worth
mentioning, and it has not been a problem, are there other
factors upon which I should base a decision to upgrade?

After installing 2.0d on our test machine, I see no
compelling reason from that experience to upgrade our main
DAW at this point.

More information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have been suspecting all along that the 2.0d update
really benefits the Vegas VIDEO. I have not gotten
confirmation though. So, I would be equaly interested in
knowing the answer to your question.

Beyond the "what's new" list on the download page and in
the readme, we fixed quite a few bugs for 2.0d. A good
number of these affect both Vegas Audio and Video. Crashing
bugs were fixed in resize, undo, plug-in enumeration,
explorer, and more, plus there are fixes to destructive
processing, effects bypass, plus a bunch of file plug-in
fixes in Real Media, QT. This isn't a complete list, but a
large number of the fixes are beneficieal to audio users.

Thanks for the prompt response. The question is important
to us because, from a business standpoint, we hate to see
our company get too far behind the curve on updates yet, at
the same time, we have had some past Vegas updates that
were remarkably less stable than previous versions.

Based on the lack of trouble reports on the forum for this
update thus far, and your reply, I am going to go on the
assumption that the update is more in the nature of a "bug
fix" and trust that reliablity and stability should
therefore be equal to, if not greater than, the previous
release.

Thanks.

I may be able to reassure you Karl (or maybe not). I upgraded to 2.0d and have had no trouble at all with it
(apart from plug-ins not being available but that was solved by going back to DirectX 7). 2.0d runs no differently
at all than 2.0b for me but I only use Vegas for audio.. Whatever the audio bug fixes were, those bugs
apparently didn't affect me in 2.0b and they still don't affect me in 2.0d either. And there don't seem to be any
new bugs. There was only one bug I had with 2.0b (which I still have with 2.0d) and that was if Vegas is
allowed to scan for plug-ins on opening, it crashes and reboots the computer before I have a chance to to find
out which plug-in it is objecting to. Going back to an earlier registry where it doesn't scan for plug-ins is my
only solution for now.

I have the same bug - Vegas 2.0d scans the plug-ins and crashes the operating system. Other than that, it's great!

Yes, no fun is it Mike! I have a friend who is just finishing work on a little free program that enables you to disable and
re-enable plugins easily so that you can find out which is the offending one(s). It Enables/Disables and Removes plugins. If
you remove the plugin it informs you on how to install it again. if you disable it, then it shows up in the list as disabled and
you can then re-enable it without having to re-install it. Also, it shows you the registry info for each DirectX plugin you have
installed. I should be getting a copy tomorrow. Let me know if you'd like one too. Tony
