what's the deal with multi-cam monitoring?

I'm doing a 2 cam edit and I have the "show full frame on external monitor" checked.
In the preview window I get "preview on external monitor" flickering making it hard to see...any suggestions?

you may need to reduce hardware acceleration in your video card settings or Windows Control Panel.

Thanks Douglas but if you mean changing the monitor from 32 bit to 16 bit it didn't help...but I have a feeling that's not what you meant?
