What's the setting? (Ripple edit)

I am not sure what it's called, but what I want to do is, if I select a series of events from the cursor to the end of the project, I want it handled as a "solid block" of events rather than have a delayed ripple after I make the selected event move.

I have had it the way I want for so long, I do not even remember what the setting that affects this is called.

Updating to Vegas Pro 8.

What do I need set to make it so I do not have this ripple "delay;" does all right now as I move it??

Thanks!

sounds to me like you're talking about ripple enabled, but you could possibly be talking about grouping events.

Grouping is done by selecting and hitting the "G" key

Ripple is done by selecting the ripple button to the right method of ripple and then just enabling it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I am aware of the setting of which you speak. I don't think that's it though.

I opened the same (complex) project in Vegas 7 and at the same time Vegas Pro 8.

Side-by-side; they are not acting the same.

I guess I'll keep looking.

Thanks for trying.

Slight addition/clarification....

I am getting the delayed ripple when I select all events on all tracks, under and to the right of the cursor via a script; specifically Ultimate S and Excalibur, the Vegas 8 versions.

It seems to me that if I select a big block of events, they should all (all selected events, all tracks) move together.

They positively do not.

With the big block of events selected, the event I "grab" to move the block, only that one event moves at first, then the delayed ripple happens

I really don't think Vegas 7 acted like this.

If you do a CTRL-A (select all events), they move as one big block.

I am virtually certain that if the right half of all project events, all tracks are selected, they should move as a single block as well.

They do not. There is a delay ripple.

Any idea why?

Kent, I have also discovered that it does not move all "selected" events after running the select events tool. It only moves the one you actually click on. The script has not changed so some functionality, somewhere, in Vegas has. I have reported it but don't know if/when a solution will be seen.

Well that is good to hear, at least with regard to me thinking I was doing something wrong.

Thanks for the confirmation!
