What's Wrong with Media Player 9?

XPUser2003 wrote on 8/24/2003, 7:13 PM
It used to be that mpeg-1 files I play on media player 8 (bundled with WinXP) plays true. But when I upgraded to media player 9, I noticed a gradual degradation of the mpeg1 files as they were playing. First, the movie looked squished, then later, there's a vertical artifact that distorts the left side of the movie. However, when i play the file using Real Player, there is no problem.

Any of you guys know a fix for this problem on Media Player 9?

Thanks.

It also plays mp3 files too slow. Make sure you have at least 1 other viewer to test with.

I haven't installed 9. I still get a plea from MS telling me of the UG - I still ignore it.

I've been running WMP 9 for a few months now. Once i figured out how to turn off most of the new fancy/useless features, i haven't had a bit of trouble with it. It seems much more stable than 8 was. The integrated DVD playback is a nice bonus.

I just wish WinAmp played QuickTime and MPEG-4 files.
