I don't care about hardware rendering - but multi proc support would be great.

I don't think we can expect 5.0 anytime soon....but there will be more updates to 4.0

I'd like to see network rendering capability. I'd love to use the other computers in my office to speed up the process when I'm rendering overnight...or, hell, there's always a few computers unused during the daytime.

Yeah it would, so would 64bit. I would think multo proc support is a given...surely its already being included?

Hardware rendering as an option wouldnt be too bad though - who wouldnt want to reduce rendering times?

In the next version, I'd really love to see _audio_ velocity envelopes that work just like the video velocity envelopes. Pitch bend envelopes would compliment this feature nicely. Right now, to get that effect, you need to use SoundForge, and the process is a painstaking manual process.

The ability to show the date/time stamp/code of the clip IN THE VIDEO would be extremely helpful, as per a number of other discussions.

Capturing with the date/time filenames just like Scenalyzer would also be a benefit.

64bit processor support and multiple processor rendering support would be great. I love the rendering over multiple computers idea. :) I could see Vegas going lightyears beyond Premiere with those!

What should we expect in Vegas 5.0?

Not to belabor the point, but I believe that we should expect, and we will get, many fine new things.

The best way to ask for specific enhancements is to write SoFo directly, outlining clearly and precisely what you want and WHY. Use thier recommendation system. They listen, carefully.

Thanks - i was wondering what was already in place rather having specific requests, other than 64bit and SMP support, which i i doubt they need me to raise with them.

PS www.vidomi.com little video conversion app has networked PC support.

If there is even a v_5.

Jeeez, are you $rich$ ?
I just shelled out my dosh for v4, you are campaigning for v5 already. Do you labour at SoFo ? ;-D
Can' t we make requests for v4.1 ? v4.2 ? v4.3 ?

BWF!! BWF!! BWF!! (Broadcast Wave Files, a SMPTE Timestamped wave file format used by Mackie SDR,HDR,MDR Hard disk Recorders...)
Also Midi Scoring, and Looping, and Mixer Automation controls.

You can't have network rendering until you have multi proc support. Well you could but it would be a waste of time.

Currently Vegas is entirely single threaded. It only uses 1 of my 4 procs (dual Xeon with HT set to on). Such a waste of money.

After effects, on the other hand, is a beauty to watch. I've seen it use 91% of my machine.

I don't know why people are asking for 64-bit support. The pixels your video camera captures are 24 bit. Throw on an alpha channel and you're at 32 bits. What would you put in the other 32 bits? Are you jealous of the G5?

Speaking of the G5, it's a complete scam. They took a 64 bit processor and put it on a 32 bit machine. The RAM is 32 bit and it has 2 32 bit data buses. But you have to hand it to them, they are going to marked the crap out of it and people will think they need it so they will buy it. And all the jobs with go to FCP editors even though the hardware is inferior and more expensive. All we can do is blame SF/Sony for not putting ANY marketing behind this potentially great product.

theigloo,

Check out the "The Sony era Begins" thread.
The marketing has begun!
