What to do when video changes resolution

I captured a movie to watch on a plane using Total Media Extreme, and the video starts for 20 seconds in 720 then switched to 1080. The video will not play on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S. It turns monochrome green/black. But it plays perfectly on my PC. I have tried countless times to convert it to all be 1080 (using Replay Converter 4), and to split off the first 30 seconds (using Replay Media Splitter), and to convert to other formats (AVI or WMV) so I could convert back but the point it becomes 1080 triggers a "done" message.

I was able to get it converted to 480, playable on the Tab. But I'd like to be able to have better control, for instance, through Sony Vegas. I can pull the video into Vegas but the initial clip defines the video format of 720, and the bulk of the movie is cut off to 720, resulting in a loss of the right side and bottom of the video. I've tried unchecking various options and nothing helps. Even the split file that tells Windows it is 1080 comes up as 720 with picture truncated, as if Vegas "remembers" that it used to have the 720 in the first 20 seconds.

Does anyone have a way to stop Vegas from "zooming in" to the picture? I tried using the Video Event FX to redefine the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and that doesn't help. The extra space is just black.

Your video had a hiccup. Depending on the source(you didn't say), you may be able to reindex in tsmuxer or Videoredo.
Then make some adjustment for the mismatch in Vegas.

Thanks! The source was a Verizon FiOS premium channel. I just wanted to see a movie on a plane where I did not have connectivity.
