This seems like a given. I create a region in the trimmer, a subclip should be generated. Is there a way to take the file to the timeline and subclip them out?
"Subclips" - as explained in the Online Help for Vegas 5 - "expand on the notion of media file markers and regions; just as you might save makers or regions in a media file to indicate an area of interest, you could create a subclip to mark a portion of a media file." . .and you get them directly in to the Media Pool. This is the real Boon for me .. I found search for regions and not knowing and creating regions a bit "icky" ! Subclips I can scrub on the fly . .I like this. And they get automatically named too!
So, it would appear that Vegas deal with Regions and Subclips in a totally different way. Expressly for the reasons given aboev. So, one method is for creating regions and the other method is for creating Subclips. I don't think or understand, if this is what you are saying, why it mght create a "subclip" from a region? But maybe I've misunderstood you?
Example: I have gone through the raw footage on the _trimmer_ and 'regioned out' all the clips that I want, it would be nide to have these clips somewhere so that I can just drag all of them together to the timeline. Then arrange them later. This is why I ask if I have regions in the trimmer, brint the entire clip to the timeline, can those regions still be found?
I may be misunderstanding also, but I think what you want is for the regions you've put inplace to survive Trimmer editing, right?
If so, I think you can make this happen. Page 99 in the Vegas manual explains it better than I ever could.
Or if you are just trying to create a subclip from a Region you've defined in the Trimmer:
1. Double-click between the Region markers that you want to create a subclip for, this sets the Loop Region to width of the Region and selects the media in the Loop Region.
2. Right-click on the highlighted media, and select "Create Subclip..." from the contextual menu.
Hope I didn't misunderstand and just restate the obvious.
You got it, but I am looking for a way to get all the regions that I defined to the timeline quickly. I have about 70 or 80 regions defined...if they were subclips, I could drag them all into the timeline and arrange them using Edit details, cause I named the regions in the trimmer.
After creating and naming Regions, click on the floppy icon above the trimmer. These are now saved and can be accessed using Region view in Vegas Explorer. You may need to save project and refresh before they appear.
If you name the regions carefully, they can be listed in the order you want them on the timeline, so one lift does it all.
There is an Option in general preferences "Automatically save regions and markers with media file" - I'm not sure if this refers to the .veg file or rendered files, but make sure it's enabled in case ....
