I know 7 and 8 do but do not know about 6.

Thanks. I have a 3rd party query about Vegas7 working on VISTA, and I was needing to get some "firsthand" real-World experience.

I run v7 and v8 in Vista 32 and 64. They work fine. May need to update .net (or add v2 or something like that) otherwise it was painless to install.

Vista 64 bit Ultimate has "things" that will install old stuff "install the same as XP32bit" and a vicious network "finder" and I just found a "memory tester".
Vicious---If you have anything that looks, smells, feels, and thinks like a network Vista will find it.

Grazie, do you have Vista? What one? I was very anti Vista at first but now I have been using 64bit ultimate I get to like it more each day.

I've been thinking about getting 64bit Vista on my next machine but I think I am too old to work through the head aches of doing that! :)

I have v7 and v8 on a Vista laptop. As long as you stay within a familiar application (Vegas) then you should be OK.

Where I have big issues is file management. There are 4 My Documents folders that I can see in Windows Explorer, but I can only view/interact with one of them. Depending upon the program I am using, it can save files in any one of the 4, I think.

I can only find about 25% of the files I need to back up or launch.

I am furious and want a replacement operating system. And I am a windows developer. Obviously not a Vista expert (LOL!) but I can't even use the laptop the way I am used to.

But Vegas works great unless I need to back up/package my projects.

Vista 64 bit solved a lot of my problems with XP 32bit. IRQ interference was reduced a bunch. I used the classic windows views. If the software I was installing was not compatible it would make it compatible.(not all the time) I could shut off automatic CD/Rom notification for about 18 different scenarios. I installed V8.0b, DVD-A 4.5b, Acid Pro 6.0d, Cinescore 1.0c, CDA-5.2b, Forge 9.0d, Cineform Neo 3.2.3, Debugmode frameserver & Winmorph & Wax, AVDC Canopus without viewing window, all Mike Crash filters, Ball & luminance transitions, Neat stuff, Ultimate S 3.1, Realpac 5, Gear shift 1.7, swap events script, Quicktime pro 7.4 and all DIVX programs. Networking is a breeeze. Virtual dub 1.7 64 bit did not work and also Nero 8.1.1 was a mess.
I get the impression you can "beat" on this OS profusely without doing any damage. The incessent warnings are a bit of a pain in the neck. I sure do miss the Deshaker script though.

Interesting stuff. Up till now I didn't even think Vista ran on Vista.
