They were there, in V7, once. I updated a few things (like SF9) and now they're gone. Don't seem to be able to find them in any VSTish folders. Still there in SF9 thankfully.
I don't have the SF9 "Mastering Bundle" in a VST Folder for Vegas either. But I DO have them as Audio Plugins in Vegas. Add an SFx to an Audio and see if you pick 'em up?
SF to 9.0csome time ago.
I just found them in Program Files\iZotopes\SoundForgeMasterBundle\win32 and pointed one of the VST folder in V7.0d at that and did a Refresh but it doesn't find them.
I'll persist and try on my XP machine that's running V8 and see if I can get it to install them.
The original version of the Izotope Mastering Bundle was (accidentally, I think) not restricted and would show up under any software that could use VST effects (including Vegas 7, of course) which was contrary to the terms of the license from Izotope. When this mistake was discovered the original version of the Mastering Bundle was removed from the website and replaced by one which correctly checked that it was being called from a program that was allowed to do so according to the terms of the license, i.e. SF9.
The ability to identify itself as an OK program to use the Mastering Bundle was also added to the next version of Vegas to be released, probably V.8.0a, and it may well be added to the next version of Acid, when it appears. (I'm guessing that Sony's license from Izotope permits its use from any of the top of the range applications, but I don't know that for certain.)
So the Mastering Bundle can now be used with the current versions of both Sound Foirge and Vegas, but earlier versions of SF and Vegas (and Acid) can no longer use it (and were never really supposed to be able to).
Thanks,
it all comes back now. Good thing I bought the original SF9 on CD and I even got the box . It seems though if you directly install a build of SF apart from the original one (9.0) you don't get the mastering bundle either.
Craig Anderton talks about missing VST effects in the latest Sony Newsletter
"Finding "missing" VST effects: Sound Forge scans for VST effects, but it needs to know where to look. Although many programs will scan for an existing folder containing VST effects and install into that folder, they may also create a new folder and install the effects there. As a result, there might be multiple folders with VST effects. Sound Forge will find a default VST search folder, but if it needs to scan more folders, on the Options > Preferences > VST Effects tab you can browse for alternate folders containing VST plug-ins and select them as alternate places for Sound Forge to scan. Afterward, click on the Refresh button to re-scan. Hint: Create a path for VST plug-ins, like C:\Program Files\VSTplugins, and install all your plug-ins there (and make it the default folder for other programs). Then they'll all be in one convenient location."
